As a matter of fact, the majority of traffic to your church’s website is from people who do not regularly attend your church. A website that is tailored to the needs of first-time guests can help to make them feel seen and heard, welcomed and informed. This can ultimately lead to an increase in first-time guests. One of the key reasons a church should focus primarily on the first-time guest experience on its website is that it can serve as a virtual "front door" for your church. Many people today rely on the internet to research and find information about local churches, and a website that is user-friendly, informative, and invites people into a story they can see themselves in can help to make a positive first impression, build trust, and turn more online visitors into first-time guests.  One way you can do this is to keep the important information front and center. Don’t make people hunt around for the information they need in order to make a decision about visiting your church. This is especially important for churches that are located in areas with a high concentration of churches. Keep your service times and location information at the top and bottom of every single page of your website. At the end of the day, your church isn’t for everyone. So don’t try to be all things to all people. You’ll certainly fail in some areas. However, someone should gain a clear understanding of how attending your church can better their lives. So, your goal in building an effective church website is to remove any potential roadblocks someone might encounter along the way. Not sure how to create helpful resources for your congregation and collect email addresses? **Check out our friends at Front Door!** A church website that is focused on the needs of first-time guests should also help to provide important information about the church's services, ministries, and relevant events. It can help to answer questions that first-time guests may have about what to expect when they visit the church and can help to make the transition from a virtual experience to an in-person one as smooth as possible. One way for your church’s website to be seen as helpful is to make the content less about you and more about your online visitor. How do you do this? Here’s an example. Instead of putting up an announcement about the upcoming women’s conference complete with dates, times, and the speaker lineup, try this… Now, wouldn’t hearing a story like that make you want to attend the women’s conference more than just hearing about the speaker, the meals, the dates, and the times?  **People connect with stories, not details.** Another way your church website can be helpful is to avoid insider lingo at all costs! Unless your church is a marketing powerhouse, the use of acronyms for ministries like I.H.O.P or MOPS makes zero sense to the person looking in from the outside. **Your church website should be written at the level of a 5th grader.** If you have to explain it, rephrase it so you don’t. Also, the use of overly “churchy” words might be best suited for a Sunday morning sermon as opposed to a church website. If your audience is that of a churched background, then be my guest. However, as I mentioned above, the majority of people visiting your church’s website are not connected with any church let alone yours. So let’s keep the “secret code” out of our website copy and speak clearly and concisely. One last reason we think a church should focus on the first-time guest experience on its website is that it can help to build relationships with potential first-time guests before you ever meet them in person. By providing engaging and informative content on your website, your church can begin to establish a connection with first-time guests, be seen as someone with answers, and provide them with the necessary information they need to make the decision to visit in person. This can help to foster a sense of community and belonging, which can ultimately lead to an increase in the chance of them attending your church in person. Not all website builders are created equally... In a recent survey, we discovered that the majority of churches use WordPress as their website CMS... WordPress can be GREAT if you know how to use it. It's capable of almost anything, but can be very confusing for the average church to start using. And most church-specific website builders lock you into a very specific layout or template. That's why we love **Churchly****.** Churchly lets you start with a fully designed website template, but they don't leave you there. You have 100% control over layout, colors, fonts, and content positioning, you name it you can do it with Churchly.  Churchly doesn't stop at just giving you a fully responsive church website, but they also offer multi-step landing pages you can use for marketing all sorts of church activities that require a specific action. They even provide the ability to create automated email sequences and the ability to send blast emails to your entire congregation, or segments of your congregation. **Start a free trial with Churchly here. No credit card required!** Let’s wrap this up. Having an incredible website that focuses on the first-time guest experience is essential for any church. You have less than half of a second to make a first impression, and if your website doesn’t answer the questions an online visitor has in just three seconds, then they’re moving on.  By providing a beautiful, user-friendly, informative, and engaging website, churches can make a great first impression on website visitors, and the longer someone stays on your site they’ll find important information about your services, programs, and events, and begin to build a connection and trust with your church. All of this can ultimately lead to increased church attendance and engagement. © Copyright Cowntdown | All Rights Reserved | [Privacy Policy |](/privacy) [Terms of Service](/terms-of-service) - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") --- ## URL: https://www.countdown.church/5-ideas-for-posting-content-to-your-churchs-social-media-accounts ### Title: 5 Ideas for posting content to your church's social media accounts ### Page ID: 5465438 ### Content: ## Inspire ## Promote ## Share ## Engage 5 Ideas for posting content to your church's social media accounts Here are a few of our favorite ideas for how churches can use social media to boost reach and engagement. Share photos and videos from church events and services, such as baptisms, Sunday services, and community gatherings. This helps people feel connected to the church even if they can't physically be there. Additionally, sharing behind-the-scenes content, like setting up for an event or preparing for a service, can provide a more personal and inclusive look at the church's activities. Share inspirational quotes, Bible verses, and other spiritual content that resonates with your audience. This can be a great way to engage with people and encourage them in their faith journey. Consider providing context or personal reflections on the quotes and verses to create deeper connections with the audience. Use social media to promote upcoming events and services, such as guest speakers, retreats, and mission trips. In addition to building anticipation and increasing attendance, consider creating interactive content like polls or Q&A sessions to involve the audience in shaping these events. Share stories of how the church is making a positive impact in the community, such as through volunteering, charitable giving, and outreach programs. Highlighting individual stories and testimonials can help people see the tangible value of being a part of the church and encourage them to get involved. Consider creating before-and-after posts to showcase the impact of the church's initiatives. Use social media to start conversations and ask questions that encourage people to share their thoughts and experiences. This can help build a sense of community and foster meaningful connections with others. Consider hosting live Q&A sessions, discussion forums, or virtual prayer groups to facilitate deeper engagement. ***Still confused about exactly what to post? When to post? The words to post? The images to post?*** ***No problem!*** [**Check out our friends at Social Bucket.**](https://yoursocialbucket.com) They create monthly social media packs that include images and pre-written copy designed to boost reach and engagement with your audience. Additionally, consider leveraging user-generated content by encouraging the congregation to share their own experiences and perspectives, further strengthening the sense of community and connection. Social Bucket even offers on-demand training videos so you can really start using your church's social media channels as an extension of your church's ministries. Consider utilizing these resources to train church staff, volunteers, and congregation members on best practices for social media engagement, ensuring a unified and effective online presence for the church. The bottom line is, social media was never meant to become a "bulletin board" for your upcoming events and announcements. It's an engagement tool. A community. So, start looking at your church's social media channels as outreach and ministry tools - not simply another place to make announcements. © Copyright Cowntdown | All Rights Reserved | [Privacy Policy |](/privacy) [Terms of Service](/terms-of-service) - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") --- ## URL: https://www.countdown.church/increase-church-online-attendance-with-this-simple-tool ### Title: Increase Church Online Attendance with This Simple Tool ### Page ID: 5465439 ### Content: Increase Church Online Attendance with This Simple Tool As churches continue to adapt to the digital age, many are turning to live streaming as a way to reach their congregations and extend their reach to new members. However, with the convenience of live streaming comes the challenge of ensuring that viewers are aware of when the service will take place and can tune in at the right time. This is where Cowntdown comes in. Cowntdown is the first repeating countdown designed specifically for churches that live stream. It is a powerful tool that displays the time remaining until the next live-stream service, allowing viewers to plan ahead and make sure they are available to watch. But Countdown is not your average countdown widget. It is capable of handling multiple service times and automatically resetting itself each week, making it a time-saving tool for already busy church leaders. One of the biggest benefits of Cowntdown is that it allows churches to count down to multiple service times on multiple days of the week in a single embedded countdown widget. If your church streams one service or several, using Cowntdown makes counting down to multiple worship services a breeze! Another benefit of Cowntdown is that it eliminates the need to log in and manually reset your countdown after every service. This means that churches can focus on other important tasks, such as preparing for services or following up with first-time guests as opposed to worrying about updating their countdown widget. Cowntdown can also be a powerful tool for increasing engagement with your church. By encouraging viewers to tune in at the designated time, churches can create a sense of community, urgency, and a shared experience that can help foster deeper connections and engagement with their congregations. In conclusion, Countdown is a revolutionary tool that can help churches reach a wider audience, increase engagement and save time. Its ability to handle multiple service times and automatically reset itself each week, make it the perfect solution for churches looking to streamline their live streaming efforts and focus on other important tasks. © Copyright Cowntdown | All Rights Reserved | [Privacy Policy |](/privacy) [Terms of Service](/terms-of-service) - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") --- ## URL: https://www.countdown.church/our-favorite-productivity-tools-for-busy-pastors ### Title: Our Favorite Productivity Tools For Busy Pastors ### Page ID: 5465448 ### Content: ## **Sermonary:** A Cloud-based Sermon Writing Tool ## **Countdown:** For Automating Your Weekly Live Stream Countdown ## **Email Automations Built in Churchly:** Automating Follow-Ups As a pastor, you wear many hats, from preaching and leading worship services to counseling and managing administrative tasks. I'm also a worship pastor at a church plant, [Real Church](https://realchurch.today), and I **LOVE** coffee and hanging out in coffee shops. I'm the creator of Cowntdown. I also run a freelance design agency that helps churches create beautiful websites, branding, and graphic design. It's called **Sons of Crow**. Oh, and I created [**Churchly in 2018**](https://churchly.com). Churchly is not just another church website builder; it's an entire online communication platform.... Not gonna lie, it's pretty cool. I had the honor of selling Churchly to good friends of mine over at [Ministry Pass](https://ministrypass.com) in late 2023. I used to get asked all the time if I knew of a countdown timer churches can use for their live stream that would automatically reset itself every week.... The answer was always ***"no"***. Nothing like that existed on the entire internet... ***Can you believe it?*** It's the very first and only weekly recurring countdown timer for churches that live stream their services. And it's the only countdown timer that is capable of counting down to multiple service times spread over multiple days.  Hopefully, something I've created can be a blessing to you and your church, and, together, we can reach more people for Jesus! © Copyright Cowntdown | All Rights Reserved | [Privacy Policy |](/privacy) [Terms of Service](/terms-of-service) - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") - [About](/about "About") - [Blog](/cowntdown-blog "Blog") - [Support](/support-articles "Support") - [Pricing](/pricing "Pricing") --- ## URL: https://www.countdown.church/10-steps-to-kickstart-your-churchs-marketing-plan ### Title: 10 Steps to Kickstart Your Church's Marketing Plan ### Page ID: 5820404 ### Content: ## Pay A Professional To Design Your Logo and Branding ## Hire A Professional Photographer ## Target Local Audiences With Social Media Ads ## Follow Up With First-Time Guests ## Never Assume Anything... Starting a marketing plan from scratch can feel like trying to herd cats, especially when you're a church trying to reach out and connect with your community. But don’t fret! Here’s a foolproof guide to ensure your church stands out and connects with people both online and offline. Hiring a professional for logo and brand design is crucial for making a lasting impression. Your logo serves as the visual representation of your church, and it should resonate with your congregation and the community. While some churches may opt for the do-it-yourself approach, the result may not always reflect the desired level of professionalism. Professional designers bring a wealth of experience in branding and graphic design, understanding the nuances of color, typography, and symbolism to create a logo that conveys the essence of your church. Investing in a professional designer means tapping into their expertise in crafting a logo and brand guide that communicates your church's identity effectively. This includes ensuring that the logo is versatile for various applications, such as signage, stationery, and digital platforms. A well-designed logo and brand guide can convey a sense of trust, credibility, and purpose, making a strong statement about your church's values and mission. It's an investment in establishing a visual identity that communicates, "We know what we're doing," and leaves a memorable impression on all who encounter it. Think of your domain name as your church’s digital address. Make it easy to remember and relevant. Steer clear of confusing acronyms—no one wants to play a guessing game just to find your website. If the .com domain you want is taken, don’t worry. There are plenty of other options like .church or .today. Adding your city’s name (e.g., RealChurchPinehurst.com) not only helps with SEO but also makes it crystal clear who and where you are. Your website is your online front door. It needs to look inviting and function seamlessly. Resist the temptation to use DIY website builders or your nephew’s best friend’s “amazing” web skills. These often lack the necessary features for an effective church website.  Check out platforms like **Churchly.com**. They specialize in church websites, promising a slick, functional site in under **three weeks for just $297** plus a monthly fee. Talk about bang for your buck! Creating a Google Place listing for your church is a crucial step in enhancing its online visibility. By providing essential details such as the church's name, operating hours, location, website, and a captivating description, you can significantly improve the chances of your church being discovered by people searching for local services. Additionally, uploading high-quality photos can further enhance the appeal of your church's listing. This simple yet impactful action can greatly contribute to strengthening the connection between your church and the local community, ultimately fostering greater engagement and participation. Hiring a professional photographer can greatly improve how your church is visually represented. Professional photographers are skilled at capturing the essence and spirit of your community, creating authentic and emotional images. These images can be used on social media, your church's website, and your Google Place listing to give potential visitors a genuine sense of your church's atmosphere and offerings. Professional photographers use lighting, composition, and editing techniques to create high-quality, visually compelling images that effectively convey your church's unique character and warmth. These images can capture the energy of community events, the peacefulness of worship services, and the welcoming environment of your church spaces. By investing in professional photography, you not only showcase the physical aspects of your church but also communicate the intangible elements such as inclusivity, warmth, and a sense of belonging. This visual storytelling can be a powerful tool in attracting and engaging both current members and potential visitors, as it provides a glimpse into the heart and soul of your church, fostering a deeper connection and understanding. Who doesn’t love free stuff? Provide valuable digital resources to your community on topics like mental health, parenting, or spiritual growth, all based in Scripture.  Feeling overwhelmed by the idea of creating this content? No worries! Platforms like **Churchly** have you covered with a library of ready-to-use resources. Pair these freebies with paid social media ads targeting your local area. And the cherry on top? ***Each resource comes with automated follow-up emails, making outreach and followup a breeze.*** Maximizing the impact of your advertising budget involves strategically targeting local audiences through social media ads. It's important to understand that when promoting your Easter service, the likelihood of people traveling far to attend is low. Therefore, focusing on reaching those in your immediate community will ensure that your ads have a meaningful impact. By keeping your advertising efforts local and relevant, you can effectively engage with potential attendees and maximize the effectiveness of your ad spending. This can involve tailoring your messaging to reflect local interests or events, utilizing local landmarks or references in your imagery, and making use of geotargeting to ensure your ads are seen by those in close proximity to your place of worship. These strategies can help create a sense of connection and relevance, encouraging local residents to consider attending your Easter service. It's crucial to maintain a connection with first-time guests even after the service is over. This can be achieved by having a follow-up plan in place to ensure that they feel appreciated and valued. One effective approach is to send a friendly text on Monday morning, expressing gratitude for their visit and welcoming them to return. Additionally, consider sending a heartfelt handwritten note, which can leave a lasting impression and convey a personal touch. Having a well-prepared follow-up plan is essential to avoid overlooking anyone, especially those who are visiting your church for the first time, and to demonstrate genuine care and interest in their experience. It's always helpful to be clear. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the specific language or acronyms used in your church. Instead, take the time to explain things and use inclusive language. This will ensure that everyone feels welcome and understands what's being communicated. It's important to create an environment where everyone feels included and valued. Using clear and inclusive language can help to avoid misunderstandings and make sure that everyone can fully participate and engage in the church community. Additionally, taking the time to explain things can also be a way to educate and inform, fostering a sense of unity and understanding among the members of the church. When naming events or ministries, it's important to prioritize clarity over trying to be clever. This means choosing names that clearly and directly convey the purpose or nature of the event or ministry. If a name requires an explanation or is too abstract, it may not effectively communicate what people can anticipate. Opting for direct and straightforward names can help ensure that the audience understands the essence of the event or ministry without needing additional context. While it may seem basic, this approach is highly effective in creating clear and meaningful branding. Following these ten steps will set a solid foundation for your church’s marketing efforts.  Each point ensures you’re reaching your community effectively, making meaningful connections, and growing your congregation. **Remember, marketing is an ongoing effort, but these steps will get you off to a fantastic start.** Now, go forth and spread the good word! If you're ready to transform your church’s outreach, pick a couple of these ideas and get started. Then, sit back and watch your community grow!  Need more guidance or resources?
